NGV Announces Big Plans for Next Club Season!

By Kurt Matthews, 04/22/24, 11:15AM EDT

North Georgia Volleyball is excited to announce Jeff Black as the new Director/Owner. Kurt Matthews will serve as a mentor/consultant in an advisory position to NGV and ensure the continued growth and success of the program.

Dear North Georgia Volleyball Families,
I am excited to announce North Georgia Volleyball will be expanding greatly for the 2024-2025 season. We will be adding a more robust competitive club program, implementing a “mini-club” series geared for the development of younger and new players, expanding our skill training options for both our members & non-members, summer skills camps (including college coach-led camps), and a full tournament series.

In order to deliver a more expansive club, I have decided to turn the club over to Jeff Black so that he can serve as the full time Owner/Club Director for NGV. I will finish out the 2023-2024 programs, and continue to be the point-of-contact, through this summer, with Jeff taking over at tryouts in July 2024.

I will serve in an advisory role for the 2024-2025 season. Jeff & his team will manage the day to day needs for the club with his main responsibilities being expanding the programming as well as helping refine our training techniques. We will offer expanded programs out of Gainesville, Commerce, and Hartwell.

We will also be bringing on board an Assistant Director (Savannah Roys) as well as an Administrative Coordinator (Denise Corrigan). Stay tuned for those announcements soon. Starting next week we will also be announcing the coaching lineup for our club teams for the 2024-2025 season.

With the growing nature of the sport and the need for a larger, full-service club in the North Georgia Area, I feel it was time for someone with Jeff’s experience and energy level to take the club to the next level.

I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed my experiences with not only my coaching staff (which I can never thank enough) but both players & parents as well. It has truly been a highlight of my life to become involved in the lives of many of you.

We originally started in one older church gym in 2010 with five players and over the years have provided opportunities for over 1,000 players and countless coaches.

I have known Jeff for many years and feel he will offer a smooth transition for the next generation of NGV members! Jeff is currently the founder & one of the owners of 575 Volleyball Club, which has five locations that feature a full suite of programming including 75 competitive club teams, skill training, summer camps, events, etc.

North Georgia Volleyball (NGV) will remain its own independent run & branded entity, separate from other clubs. We will be releasing lots of information over the coming days so stay tuned!

Thank you to each and everyone of you!!

“I am excited to be the new director for North Georgia Volleyball and improve on the great foundation that has been built by Kurt and the NGV coaching staff!

Expect to quickly see more volleyball program offerings under our mission to provide world class opportunities for children and young adults to play volleyball through highly experienced world class training, coaches and events.”

Jeff Black has a history of success growing volleyball programs throughout the Metro Atlanta Area and has been mentored by some of the best in the business. As a San Diego native, he started playing both indoor and beach at a young age and developed a strong love for volleyball.

When Jeff graduated college in 2012 with a Sport Management degree, he moved to Atlanta and landed a full time job with A5 Volleyball.

During Jeff’s four years working at A5, two of his big mentors and influencers were Kurt Matthews and Denise Corrigan.

After resigning from A5 in December 2015, Jeff worked with Crossfire (now Phoenix Rising) and S3 for two years before starting 575 Volleyball.

Jeff’s leadership and networking abilities as the President/CEO and Co-Founder of 575 Volleyball has led the business to have five locations with 75+ club teams, with full time administration and coaches, and a complete offering of programs for volleyball players of all skills and levels.

To further help grow the volleyball community and HIGHLIGHT GIRLS VOLLEYBALL in GEORGIA, Jeff started Peach State Volleyball in the fall of 2024.

Most recently, Jeff and Denise started Club Volleyball Consultants and are helping mentor clubs across the country, including clubs in Michigan, Florida, Alabama and Georgia.

Jeff remains active in the volleyball community as a coach and player. He has established lifelong relationships with coaches, families and players across the country.

Jeff is married to Megan. They have two children, Wesley is two years old and Brynn is nine months old.

The Black Family will be moving to Gainesville in the next few months, be sure to introduce yourself when you see them in the gym!
